The New York Knicks held a moment of silence in remembrance of ESPN’s Stuart Scott, who passed away on Sunday morning.

Stuart Scott completely changed the way that sports media was done, and helped take ESPN to the heights that it has achieved. He brought the “hip-hop culture” to SportsCenter, as many have put it, and carried himself with professionalism in every aspect of his career.

Not only was Scott an example of how to be a sports analyst, he was also an example of how to be a father. He loved his two daughters with everything he had, and made a lasting impression for those that followed him and saw how he treated them. Despite having cancer, he lived his life like he was healthy and was unwilling to give in to the disease.

Scott talked about cancer at the 2014 ESPY Awards, and moved quite a few people with what he had to say.

“When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live. So live. Live. Fight like hell.”

That is the attitude that every single person dealing with cancer should have, and he was the true definition of strength. While we are all sad that Scott has left this earth, he has not been forgotten and never will.

Madison Square Garden held a moment of silence for Scott at Sunday’s New York Knicks game, and it was a very sobering moment. It is hard to believe that Scott will not grace the SportsCenter news desk with his presence again, but he has left a legacy that will never be forgotten by the sports world.
