George suffered his injury this summer during a Team USA scrimmage in one of the most gruesome-looking injuries seen in sports. Randle, a rookie out of Kentucky, broke his leg in the first game of his NBA career.
While the stories of Randle’s and George’s injuries are undoubtedly sad, it appears their pain has brought them together.
The two were spotted talking on Sunday after the Lakers and Pacers played, with George giving the rookies tips about the rehabilitation process.
Perhaps the coolest part of this story is that rookie sought out the veteran.
Those are exactly the types of attitudes one would want to see from these players. It’s great that George is willing to take some time out of his day to help out a young rookie and it’s also great that Randle is so dedicated to his rehab that he was willing to seek out George.
It sure will be exciting to have these two back on the court next season.
George is one of the most promising young players in the league, as he’s already a definite star at just 24 years old. He averaged 21.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, while leading the Pacers to their second straight Eastern Conference Finals appearance last season. Indiana drafted him with the No. 10 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
The Lakers drafted Randle with the No. 7 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He averaged 15 points and 10.4 rebounds per game during his lone collegiate season.
