Jerry Jones called Dallas Cowboys fans “intimidating” while praising them for their support of the home team in their playoff win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The Dallas Cowboys got a big win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday in the Wild Card round of the NFC Playoffs. For viewers at home, the crowd noise coming through the television was an unfamiliar part of the broadcasts of games from AT&T Stadium.

Cowboys fans have been criticized for their lack of support inside the stadium, which has been partly blamed on high ticket costs. With the Cowboys in the playoffs for the first time in years, they made their presence felt.

“They made the difference,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM], via the Dallas Morning News. “They really did. Just think about it. That close. There’s no question the noise was impacting Detroit and [quarterback] Matthew Stafford. There’s no question about it.

“It was intimidating. It’s the kind of thing that you run into in stadiums like Seattle. But I’m not so sure anybody has got 91,000 being that loud. Our stadium is loud, and it can be real loud. It made the difference out there, in my mind.”

It was a reiteration of the feelings Jones expressed on Monday after the game.

The official announced attendance for the game was 91,410, well over typical capacity.
