Peat announced the news in a statement released by the university.
“It’s been a long and hard decision, but I have decided to forgo my senior season of eligibility and declare for the NFL Draft,” Peat said. “I would like to thank all of my Stanford teammates, coaches and the faculty for helping me grow and enjoy an amazing experience at Stanford University. I’m excited and ready to take the next big step of my life.”
Peat finished out his collegiate career as the Morris Trophy winner as the Pac-12 Conference’s top offensive lineman. Peat, who was the only returning starter on the Cardinal offensive line in 2013, has been the starting left tackle for the past two seasons.
With the announcement, the 2015 offensive tackle class gets a boost with many considering Andrus Peat to be among the top prospects at his position.
In the most recent FanSided.com mock draft — which you can see here — Peat is selected No. 5 overall by the Washington Redskins.
