According to a report from ESPN’s Michael C. Wright, Jennings was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, speeding, and reckless driving.
This past year was Jennings’ fifth season with the Bears, and his ninth season in the NFL as a whole. He has recorded 382 total tackles, 20 interceptions, and 78 defensed passes in his career, and hasn’t had off-the-field issues of note until now.
There have been way too many issues in the NFL with players getting in trouble off of the field, and it is unacceptable for these athletes to be getting into trouble as much as they are.
Jennings has a lot of talent, but he needs to get back to hard work and focusing on football.
Chicago desperately needs him to step things up next year to help the defense take the steps necessary to improve, and hopefully this arrest sobers him up and helps him realize that he needs to have priorities.
