Kemba Walker hits game winner against Anthony Davis

The Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans went down to the wire tonight and it was a string of clutch shooting that decided the outcome. Hornets Point Guard Kemba Walker is no stranger to clutch moments with a handful of them throughout his career, and we can expect an athletic freak like Anthony Davis to have some clutch moments over the next few years.

Tonight, Kemba Walker got things started off by challenging Anthony Davis to a difficult shot contest. He used the pick and roll to get Davis to switch on to him. While Davis is a great shot blocker, he has at times let his man get by him on the way to the rim. Kemba thought that was too easy though.

Kemba went with his trusty step back jump shot and fired it over the outstretched arms of Davis. While the Brow’s fingertips ALMOST got a piece of the ball, he was just short of tipping the shot and Kemba was able to put the Hornets up two.

Deciding to accept Kemba’s challenge, it was Anthony Davis’s turn to make a tough shot and try to one up Kemba.

This is where Anthony Davis’s guard skills are shown off. He uses his dribble to create a lane to the basket, but Cody Zeller is quick enough to recover, which allows Davis to show off his big man skills. Taking the contact, and using his length as an advantage, Davis is able to lay in the basket with Zeller draped all over him. Your turn Kemba, can you beat Davis’s shot to tie the game?

Cardiac Kemba strikes again! Taking Davis’s challenge head on, Kemba used his speed to try and create some room for a shot attempt. After getting to the baseline with just enough space, Kemba pulled up and fired with Jrue Holiday right on top of him. Holiday’s defense made no difference as Kemba hit the eventual game winner, after being fouled no less, to give the Hornets a victory.
