Kansas recruit Carlton Bragg would probably like a redo on his school announcement

Every year, top recruits from around the country put on the hat to announce which college they are attending to participate in athletics. Kansas commit Carlton Bragg followed suit, but would probably like to forget about his announcement.

Bragg, the 6-foot-10 product out of Villa Angela-St. Joseph in Ohio, was standing in his high school gymnasium to announce his intentions on where he planned to play basketball next year. Having a Kansas Jayhawks hat on deck, Bragg was ready to commit himself to Bill Self and his basketball program.

There is just one problem.

He had a slip of the tongue and accidentally announced he was committing to Kentucky.

He quickly corrected himself and said he was going to Kansas, and look embarrassed as he stood in front of his classmates, friends, and family by saying the name of the wrong school.

After a long press conference with lots of buildup and many schools pining for services, Bragg announcing the wrong school was probably heartbreaking for Kentucky fans and probably almost made Kansas fans lose it as well.

The five-star forward was sought after by many programs, including Kentucky and Illinois. Bragg noted the continuity and brotherhood amongst Kansas is what made him join in.

“On my visit, towards the last day, we went to coach [Bill] Self’s house, we got together, hanging out,” Bragg said at the announcement at his high school, “The brotherly love they have, I felt comfortable around the guys. That’s when I knew I could be there.”

Luckily for those fans and students at Kansas, Bragg will be taking the court next year for the Jayhawks.
