Marcus Morris was given his fifth technical foul of the season and lost his cool after returning to the bench.

Phoenix Suns power forward Marcus Morris let his emotion get the best of him after receiving a technical foul. Morris got in the face of Suns coach Jeff Hornacek and gave him a piece of his mind.

His antics isn’t a good look for himself nor the Suns. Any player who has an issue with a coach or a teammate should address the issue in private. However, doing so during the game and making a big scene about it will make said player the most talked about athlete that night and the following morning.

Given some time to cool off, Morris reflected on the situation and apologized for the unprofessional moment.

Emotions get the best of anybody. Unlike the common folk, athletes and celebrities are always in the spotlight. They have to be extra careful and mindful to not do something that could blow up their future and affect their personal brand. Additionally, athletes’ actions are always reflective on the team as well. What they say and do could come back to bite them in the butt and their future with a certain franchise.

While Morris’ actions wasn’t anything detrimental or offensive, players and coaches should never get in shouting matches in a public setting. They should not in private settings either, but at least then it isn’t shown to millions of viewers on television, the internet and social media sites.

He’s not the star on the Suns, but he’s a steady contributor to the team. The role player is averaging 9.9 ppg and 23.5 mpg. Morris has had his flashes of success this season, but he’s nowhere close to being the next superstar. If he continues to have outbursts at his coaches, then his Suns days could be over before the season ends. Hopefully, this is the last time Morris blows up and this incident can be long forgotten by Morris, the Suns coaches, and the media.

One thing Morris needs to address moving forward is his technical fouls. For the second straight year, he’s racked up five technicals. Morris shows streaks of being on fire from three, but his frequent technical fouls should be getting him some anger management class and raising red flags for NBA teams.
