The Memphis Grizzlies are looking to upgrade their roster, and are eyeing potential deals for Luols Deng and Jeff Green.
At one point this season, the Memphis Grizzlies were on top of the Western Conference and looking at trying to run away with the No. 1 seed. Since then, they’ve fallen back a bit but remain in the top tier of Western Conference teams vying for top playoff spots.

The rest of the conference has adapted to the Grizzlies surge, as well as that of the Golden State Warriors. Teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets have made moves to get exponentially better in the last month with Rajon Rondo and Josh Smith being added to the mix.
Now it’s the Grizzlies turn to make a splash, as they’re eyeing to Eastern Conference studs to try and add to their already talented roster.
According to Marc Stein from ESPN.com, the Memphis Grizzlies are interested in trying to trade for Miami Heat swingman Luol Deng or Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green.
"The Grizzlies, looking to bolster their scoring options on the wing in the ever-competitive Western Conference, are actively trying to obtain either Miami’s Luol Deng or Boston’s Jeff Green via trade ahead of the Feb. 19 trade deadline, according to league sources."
It may be hard to land Deng in a trade, as the Miami Heat are far from giving up on their season and aren’t tied to Deng long term. Then again, if they can find something that jolts their roster, a trade offer could be extended towards South Beach.
Jeff Green is the most realistic trade option for the Memphis Grizzlies. Not only is there an established relationship between the Grizzlies and Celtics, but Boston seems to be in the mood to dump salary, acquire picks and gear up for a offseason of change.
Boston has also made it known that they want to trade Green, as this has been something teams have known for the better part of a year. While the current demand for Jeff Green is a first-round pick, the Celtics may be able to get talked down on that, as Memphis can’t overpay to land Green.
Still, the trade talks are happening and after the slashes that the Cleveland Cavaliers made this week, seeing more trade dominos fall is something fans should expect to see from contending teams.
