There was a time that many believed the Miami Dolphins and head coach Joe Philbin would part ways, but now it appears as though the team wants to keep him.
The Miami Dolphins have announced some changes at the top of the organization, but it appears nothing has changed on the Joe Philbin front.

Mike Tannebaum is the team’s new executive vice president of football operations and he will be working closely with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross. That led to some questions about whether Joe Philbin would still be part of the team’s plans moving forward and that answer still appears to be, “yes.”
Philbin, whose contract is set to expire following the 2015 season, could even end up with a contract extension before the start of the season.
Of course, that doesn’t mean Philbin will remain the coach past 2015, but it will look better for everyone and create a better working environment.
At least that is the word, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.
Beasley writes:
"Ross said last month that Philbin would be back for 2015, and the team plans to offer him a contract extension beyond this coming season. The move should come as no surprise. Ross as a rule doesn’t want his top employees working as lame ducks, and shouldn’t be seen as a guarantee that Philbin will coach the team beyond 2015."
While the chain of command at the top of the Miami Dolphins organization is certainly confusing, Philbin will be able to focus on his job.
Whether that will include leading the Dolphins after 2015 remains to be seen, but he has no reason to worry about his job… for now.
