Baylor head coach Art Briles shared his thoughts on how the Washington Redskins should adapt their offense to Robert Griffin III.

Baylor head coach Art Briles knows what makes RG3 tick. He knows how to get the best out of him. He knows how to make him perform. He had success with RG3 during his days in Baylor and he thinks that the same philosophy will help Griffin have success in the NFL.

Briles had a little tip for Washington Redskins head coach Jon Gruden.

"“You don’t always have him adapt to what you want to do; adapt to what his abilities are,” Briles said on ESPN, via the Washington Post. “I’m saying if he’s going to be our guy, let’s do what our guy does best.”"

Griffin came into the league and took the league by storm. He led the Redskins to a 9-6 record and into the playoffs. He was leading the Redskins offense down the field over and over again. He finished his rookie season throwing 3200 passing yards with 20 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions. He also ran for 815 yards and 7 touchdowns in that rookie season. Griffin injured his ACL during the regular season and then re-injured the ACL in the wild-card game in the playoffs against the Seattle Seahawks. That is when things started to fall apart.

His last couple of seasons have not been good. In his last 2 seasons, he has a record of 5-15 and he has thrown for 4897 passing yards with 20 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. He has not been able to run the ball in the same manner that he was able to in his rookie season either. In his 20 games in the last 2 seasons, he only has 665 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.

The Redskins had Mike Shanahan running the show, but he was run out of town and Jon Gruden was brought in to become the head coach last offseason. Gruden went through all 3 of his quarterbacks in his depth chart throughout the season. We don’t know what direction the team wants to go with at the position this offseason. The Redskins paid a heavy price to bring Griffin onto the roster, but his lack of success has made it difficult for the head coach to keep him on the field.

Will Gruden take the advice of Briles? Should Gruden adapt the whole offense to the abilities of RG3? Isn’t that what the head coach should be trying to do in the first place?
