The Boston Celtics are trading Brandan Wright to the Phoenix Suns as general manager Danny Ainge continues to reshape the roster after trading Rajon Rondo earlier this year.

More from Boston Celtics

Brandan Wright didn’t have a long stay in Boston after he was acquired by the Celtics in last month’s deal with the Dallas that sent Rajon Rondo to Mavericks and has been traded to the Phoenix Suns, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

The Suns will give up the 2015 first round pick they own from the Minnesota Timberwolves and is protected through the top 12 picks int he 2015 draft and 2016 draft.

Therefore if the Timberwolves hold onto the pick for the next two drafts the Suns will instead give Boston their second round picks in 2016 and 2017.  Wojnarowski breaks down the specifics of the trade:

Wright was the eighth overall pick out of North Carolina in the 2008 NBA Draft and is averaging 7.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 16.9 minutes per game this year for the Mavericks and Celtics.

Phoenix is tied for the eighth spot in the Western Conference so they’ll be hoping the addition of Wright will add to their depth on the front court while Boston continues to rebuild for the future.

In a separate move, the Celtics are finalizing a trade of Jeff Green for Tayshaun Prince and more draft picks. Wojnarowski reports if the deal is finalized the Celtics could potentially have as many as 11 first round picks over the next four years.
