Curling is a sport many within the United States only watch during the Olympics and qualifying for the once every four years event.

However, those same teams and players compete around the year in various non-Olympic events.

During the 2015 World Financial Group Continental Cup, Sweden’s Maria Prytz had the hammer, or last shot, in the first round of the match. The circle was filled with rocks from both sides and it would take a crazy, accurate shot to erase points from their opponents.

Well, Prytz did more than that and found points for Sweden.

Prytz collected a ridiculous five points. Usually, sides only collect one or two points in a side and occasionally three or four. However, five points for one team in a round is just down right rare and requires domination.

In this case, it required precision, accuracy, and some luck with the angles.

More from Olympics

If Prytz’s shot is just a little off and faster, then Sweden doesn’t get a big five points.

While curling is called boring by many Americans, shots like Prytz’s should cause more to watch the sport. At the same time, the same people who sit and watch sports that the same things happen have no room to talk. There’s always a chance unexpected results and action occurs in curling. The sport is more than people throwing heavy stones and sweeping those same stones.

Yes, it might not be the most entertaining sport, but it’s no more boring than watching baseball or NBA teams play zero defense.

For those wishing there was more curling on in the United Stats are in luck.

Curling Night in America begins on January 23 and will air on NBCSN. The coverage will be spread out over six weeks and show 24 hours of coverage of the inaugural U.S. Grand Prix. It will feature eight teams, which include the men’s and women’s sides from United States, China, Japan and New Zealand. While the event took place back in December, the taped coverage is a step in the right direction to bring more viewers to the sport.

There’s a chance there will be some crazy and lucky shots Like Prytz’s shot. Even without some highlight-worthy shots, the action will be worth watching and allow fans to see some of the top teams in the world.

In preparation of NBCSN’s coverage, fans should watch Prytz’s and other highlights and action from the 2015 World Financial Group Continental Cup.
