Dallas Cowboys star running back DeMarco Murray has watched his numbers dip since breaking his hand, but head coach Jason Garrett does not seem concerned.

Since undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray, who led the NFL in rushing yards during the regular season, has watched his numbers take a significant hit.

Murray has rushed for for 233 yards and three touchdowns in three games since the injury, while recording only 61 carries.

Those numbers are a far cry from the workload and production Jason Garrett and the Dallas offense were seeing from their star ball-carrier throughout the season, so should there be some concern?

Not according to the team’s head coach.

As far as Garrett is concerned, the hand injury has not hindered Murray at all.

“I thought he was outstanding in the game the other day [against Detroit] — a lot of dirty runs against a team that’s very good defending the run,” Garrett said, via ESPN.com. “I think we’ve been really balanced over this last stretch.

“We’ve made a lot of plays in the passing game, maybe as a result of the commitment teams have made to stop the run. We’re playing really good offensive football, and he’s a big part of it. Our ability and our commitment to run it I think has impacted us really favorably in the passing game and really made us the kind of offense that’s hard to stop.”

As Garrett points out, having the threat of DeMarco Murray is still better than having no DeMarco Murray.

With teams forced to dedicate an extra defender to stop the star running back and the increased intention on forcing Tony Romo into making big throws, the Cowboys offense continues to roll.

They will look to advance to the NFC Championship game with a win over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field this weekend.
