Don’t look now boxing fans, it seems Mayweather-Pacquiao is beginning to gain some traction.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao stepping in the same ring together would be quite the event. At the rate these two are going, and how they’ve dangled this in front of our faces for years now, you’re more likely to marry a supermodel than ever witness it.

The talk of Mayweather-Pacquiao is as natural as it comes. Both men are the best in the business, yet go back and forth about fighting and other issues like an old married couple – a married couple who’ve split and don’t sleep in the same bed might I add.
However, they’ve once again managed to get our hopes up about a possible super bout.
According to the Los Angels Times, a boxing official has recently made the claim that the most wanted fight since Rocky Balboa-Ivan Drago is “making progress.”
The official added that a deal could be in place between the next seven to 10 days.
Via the Times:
"Mayweather sought a split at least 60-40 in his favor, and Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs) expressed a willingness to meet that. The parties have already agreed to stage the fight at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and they’ve also agreed on a drug-testing plan. A date remains unsettled. It’s believed the bout is being targeted for May or June."
Sadly though, we’ve seen this song and dance a number of times before, and it doesn’t help a sport that’s been long taken over by Dana White’s UFC.
Don’t be so quick to forget. Back in 2009, after it had already been reported that the fight was on, Pacquiao backed out claiming not everything was in place. Then there was 2010 where we saw Mayweather request “Olympic-style drug testing” for the fight. That request once again made everything crash and burn.
Regardless of whether the fight does go down this year, it’s a shame these two legends did not meet five years ago during their prime.
