Trevor Booker makes a volleyball shot

The NBA has it’s fair share of crazy baskets throughout a season. Sometimes they bounce off weird objects and result in a funny two points for the shooter and other times it bounces off body parts and results in two points for the other team. This has been going on for decades and basketball fans are no stranger to two points being scored in strange ways. All that said, this make by, Utah Jazz Forward, Trevor Booker is a new one.

That is…something. He just kind of volleyballs it in as if he was setting up for a spike or something. What makes it extra weird is how the bounce of the pass by Gordon Hayward wasn’t even awkward, Booker just hit the ball in a weird way to make the shot. Even Booker himself had no idea how he did that giving a shrug after the made basket.

Alright, so Booker clearly has some volleyball skills, so what if NBA players started to play like it was volleyball? The ball has to be shot within three passes, and only one bounce pass is allowed per shot attempt. What players would be good for this style of basketball? Booker is obviously a given since he’s clearly got some nice volley skills. Anthony Davis can be our spike man, he’s got freakishly long arms and he can jump out of the gym making him perfect for the spot. Rajon Rondo will be our bounce passer, he already never shoots which means he has to know all kinds of angles to get the perfect bounce pass for Booker’s volleys to Davis.

Is it a perfect idea? No, but that’s why we have the D-League to try out this stuff. I expect this to be brought up at the next board of governors meeting.
