New York Jets running back Chris Johnson was arrested on Friday night for carrying an unlicensed firearm.
It was a rough season for the New York Jets that just got a little rougher for running back Chris Johnson. His team isn’t in the postseason but he’s in the headlines on the day the Divisional Round is supposed to be played Typically that’s not a good thing, and that’s the case with Johnson on Saturday.

On Friday, a report surfaced that Johnson had been arrested in Florida on a weapon charge. On Saturday, Pro Football Talk confirmed that Chris Johnson had been arrested for carrying a weapon that he didn’t have a license for.
"A league source tells PFT that Johnson does have a license to carry in Florida. But this arrest wasn’t just for carrying, it was for open carrying."
This is a big deal, as the NFL has enough off-field issues with domestic violence that we’ve forgotten the often troubling time the the league has with guns and other violence. Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones is facing the prospect of going broke over a settlement stemming from a nightclub shooting in which he wasn’t even the shooter.
Plaxico Burress ruined his career and went to prison for two years over shooting himself in the leg, and we all know the tale of Sean Taylor being gunned down in his own home, as well as numerous other players who have died from gun violence.
Chris Johnson didn’t shoot anyone, but this is a big deal for the league and his career that he was busted with an open carry. He is due $2 million on the second year of his contract with the Jets this upcoming season, which is money he may never see if the team deems this behavior something the new regime doesn’t want to tolerate in the slightest.
