Marcus Mariota hasn’t made NFL Draft decision yet
By Jack Crosby
There appears to still be a chance that Marcus Mariota could return to college football next season.
In two days, Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota will try to do something that no other signal caller in the history of the school has been able to do, and that’s win a national championship. After that’s, it’s pretty much a given that Mariota will be off to the NFL where he is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Well, how much of a given is that, really?
While it’s still a likely possibility that Mariota will leave Eugene after Monday’s game against Ohio State, the Ducks quarterback noted at Media Day on Saturday that he has yet to fully make up his mind on whether or not he’s going to turn pro.
“I really haven’t made my decision yet,” Mariota said via NFL.com. “I don’t know if that’s my future. It hasn’t been a distraction because I’m really just focusing on this game and making sure I go out there prepared.”
It’s always a possibility that an underclassman can come back, however with as high as Mariota is projected, it would be considered foolish for him not to go. Him answering the NFL question the way that he did on Saturday was probably to keep the focus off of him heading into the game on Monday night.
