While officials in the playoff game Sunday were measuring for a first down, Green Bay Packers LB A.J. Hawk made the international sign for … well …
Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk came away from the officials measuring for a first down attempting to communicate something.
What that something was could be widely open to interpretation:
- a) We’re getting hosed by the officials.
- b) I have a cramp in my forearm.
- c) I can’t wait until after the game … they’re blue.
You decide:
Sometimes, one wonders if the players are so accustomed to the ever-present cameras that they literally forget their every move is being broadcast over the open air to millions of homes.
In any event, the Packers’ shield of invincibility at Lambeau Field is taking some hits Sunday—late in the third quarter, Green Bay (8-0 at home) is trailing the Dallas Cowboys (8-0 on the road) 21-13.
It’s been a down year for Hawk, who had 90 tackles, half a sack and two passes defensed in 16 games during the regular season, as he saw his playing time cut in the second half of the season after Green Bay moved Clay Matthews to inside linebacker at times.
Hawk, in his ninth season with the Packers, was the fifth overall pick out of Ohio State in the 2006 NFL Draft. He played only 103 snaps over the last five regular-season games after playing an average of 68 defensive snaps in the first 11, according to Pro Football Focus.
