Timofey Mozgov thinks that everything is going to work out for the Cleveland Cavaliers as the NBA season rolls onward in 2015.

The Cavaliers have a new center. Besides the virtues of rim protecting and generally being large that Mozgov offers on the court, it appears that he is going to bring a rosy outlook and a can-do attitude to his new team.

There are plenty of reasons to be concerned in Cleveland. They certainly are not the super team many expected them to be, at least not yet. LeBron James is hurt, Kyrie Irving still has some growing up to do on a contending team, Kevin Love has not been terribly effective, and there is reported discord among the players and head coach David Blatt.

These are the kinds of issues that can work themselves out over time. At least that’s what the voice of reason might say in this situation, and apparently the newly arrived Mozgov is going to be that voice.

“‘We’ll see,’ you can say right now,” Mozgov said, courtesy of ESPN.com. “We’ll need a couple games at least. But I think everything is going to be great.”

Mozgov was presumably speaking about his own transition with the Cavaliers as well as the team’s position in a more general sense in the Eastern Conference.

In this case, the Cavaliers stand to benefit from the perspective of a guy who was just playing on a bad team. Timofey Mozgov just came from the struggling Denver Nuggets, a team without an identity that might be firing its head coach soon. To go from that uncertainty to a team with LeBron James on it, Mozgov can hardly be blamed for looking on the bright side.

While it is surprising that things have not clicked sooner in Cleveland in a weak conference, there is still plenty of time this season for everybody to adjust to one another and be ready for a playoff run. That even includes the players acquired in a recent flurry of action that brought in Mozgov and shot-happy J.R. Smith.

Mozgov was brought in specifically to protect the rim in the wake of the team’s loss of Anderson Varejao for the season. Cleveland paid a hefty price (two future first round picks) to land him, so the pressure will be on the Russian center. That will be especially true if and when the Cavaliers get a crack at Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol and the Chicago Bulls.

Timofey Mozgov is averaging 8.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game this season.
