New York Knicks franchise player Carmelo Anthony now knows knee surgery is in his future.
It was a question that started to fade in priority. For every game the hapless New York Knicks lose diminishes the importance of whether Carmelo Anthony would require knee surgery.
Today it has finally been revealed that he does indeed need surgery for the bum knee that’s been ailing him all season long.
Via ESPN New York:
"“I’m pretty sure at some point that’s going to be my only option,” Anthony said after the team’s afternoon practice. “But until that time I can’t sit out. … I feel like if I can go out there and play some more and continue to play, then I’m going to do that. I’m pretty sure there will come a time where I have to make that decision to sit out and take the proper procedure and get what I need to be done.”"
Anthony has missed the past six-games for his 5-35 Knicks who lead the association in losses. He wants to suit up for their game on Thursday against the surprising Milwaukee Bucks, but still isn’t sure he can give it a go.
The speculation about Anthony’s status for the rest of this season is a natural one. After the recent trades of Iman Shumpert and JR Smith, it’s clear Phil Jackson has firmly planted the franchise in full tank mode.

So, at this point Anthony coming back makes very little sense.
Anthony though, still maintains he wants to play
"“I want to be a part of what’s going on. This is my future. This is why I wanted to come back and to be part of that plan. I want to be part of the plan,” he said, according to ESPN New York."
The only question left for fans now is who’ll be on the next flight out of New York? Jose Calderon anybody?
