John Fox has turned down the opportunity to interview with the New York Jets for their coaching vacancy.

The Denver Broncos and head coach John Fox decided to mutually part ways on Monday afternoon, after a very disappointing 24-13 divisional round loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Fox had coached the Broncos to four straight AFC West division titles, but he could never lead them to a championship. They got to the Super Bowl last season, but were quickly routed by the Seattle Seahawks with the final scoring ending up at 43-8.

One team that is interested in bringing a head coach with experience is the New York Jets. They reportedly asked Fox in for an interview, and he promptly turned them down. It isn’t surprising that Fox wouldn’t want to go from a Super Bowl contender to a team that hasn’t been a factor for a while.

Throughout his four seasons with the Broncos, Fox ended up with 46-18 record in the regular season. New York is going to have a tough time finding a new head coach, and they will likely have to settle for a younger coach looking for his first head coaching gig.

New York recently fired Rex Ryan, and he joined their division rival Buffalo Bills. The Jets aren’t a very attractive landing spot for head coaching candidates, especially with all of the other jobs open across the league.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Fox end up looking at the Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears as potential landing spots. He is a great football coach, but both he and the Broncos needed to shake things up. The Broncos have their eyes on a few different candidates themselves.

Don’t expect Fox to be without a job too much longer if he wants to get back into the coaching game. There are a couple of teams out there that will have interest in him, and that should be of interest to him.
