Nikola Vucevic is a pretty solid big man for the Orlando Magic. He has a decent jump shot, a solid post game, and he’s a rebounding monster. He struggles on the defensive end a bit but he’s serviceable enough to not ruin the Magic defense.
On the other side of Vucevic is legendary Spanish big man, Pau Gasol. Signing with Chicago to team up with Joakim Noah, Gasol’s skills on the offensive end mixed with his defensive savvy allow him to still be a starting big man in the NBA despite the years of mileage he has on him. Except, that’s all over now because Vucevic decided tonight that he was going to end Gasol’s career with this dunk.
Gasol’s career is dead, over, finished, and oh man what a career it was. But none of that matters because Vucevic has taken all that legend and thrown it out the window. The legend of Pau Gasol is over, the legend of Vuc has begun with this dunk.
The power behind this dunk is power that is only reserved to strike down a greek god like Zeus, or Ares, but Vucevic decided to use it on a helpless Pau Gasol and end that poor man’s career. He never saw it coming when Vuc made that jab step to the left, it was probably supposed to only be a routine hook shot, instead it was a ferocious hook dunk.
The shock and force of the dunk knocked both men to the ground, and eventually both rose. But Vucevic ran back on defense a stronger man, a better man, and Gasol ran back with an ended career. He’s probably already writing up his retirement speech in his mind.
