The San Antonio Spurs visited the White House today and found themselves as the butt of Barack Obama’s jokes.

As a part of winning Larry O’Brien NBA Championship trophy last season, today the Spurs were invited to the White House to celebrate their accomplishments. As is beginning to be a regular thing for the President, Barack Obama used this as an opportunity to show his lighter side and deliver some one-liners and jokes at the expense of the champs.

He made a few jokes about the age of the Spurs and mainly referring to the aging big three of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. He claimed that it was hard to hate on old people and made him feel good to see that old people could have success.

Then my favorite was the joke about Matt Bonner and what must be a secondary career that he is seeking as a sandwich blogger. “How can you not like a sandwich blogger named ‘The Red Mamba’.”

The President also made his typical joke of how it was not a Chicago team that he was meeting in the White House, but then he said not yet anyway.

The President wrapped his routine up with a quick zinger that stated if anyone needed advice on how to win back-to-back to hit him up.

I pretty much agree with the President here, it is pretty hard to hate on a team like the Spurs who do so many things so well. They just go out and play hard-nosed team basketball no matter who is on the court with them or who is not.

Whether you love or hate the President or the Spurs this is an awesome video to watch and another reason why we love sports.
