There was a very dramatic finish to the game, and yet another controversial call that involved the Cowboys. Against the Detroit Lions in the first round of the playoffs, the Cowboys got away with a couple big calls down the stretch of the game. On Sunday afternoon against Green Bay, they had a catch taken away that would have put them on the one yard-line.
What was so big about the overturned catch by Dez Bryant? The Packers took over on downs because the play came on fourth and two.
Favre talked about the play, and made it clear that he believed the catch shouldnāt have been overturned.
āI will say this,ā Favre said.Ā āI thought Dez Bryant made a catch, and thatās from an outside point of view. I also know what itās like when calls donāt go your way. And I thought in this case Dez Bryant made an outstanding catch in a great, pressure-packed situation. And that one was taken away from him. Would Green Bay have won? I have no idea. I would assume so. Theyāre a very good team. But I just felt like a great player made a great play in an unbelievable situation. But it happens.ā
Green Bay ended up eliminating the Cowboys from the playoffs by a final score of 26-21, and will face the Seattle Seahawks on the road this coming Sunday. Aaron Rodgers dealt with major calf issues, but was still able to make the necessary plays to get the job done.
Bryant and the entire Cowboysā organization was shocked by the overturned catch, and it is something that they will remember throughout the entire offseason. The referees called the play perfectly according to the current rules that are in place, and while it is a tough way to lose, it was still the right call.
That being said, Favre is still rooting the Packers on and trying to get back in good favor with the organization. He has been getting much more vocal this season, and talking about games like this is always interesting to read and hear from him.
