By Evan Massey
The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in acquiring Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings.
Brandon Jennings and the Detroit Pistons have been very impressive since the team decided to cut ties with troubled forward Josh Smith. They have gone 9-1 since Smith was released, and the team as a whole has looked much more interested in the game and are finally playing with passion.

One of the key players that has stepped up since the release of Smith has indeed been Jennings. He has always been a capable scorer, but this is the first time in his tenure with the Pistons that he has been freed to play his game.
Now that he is beginning to play his game again, there are plenty of teams that are interested in making a move to acquire his services.
The Los Angeles Lakers are a team that want to make some moves in bring in as much talent as they can for next year, and they are one of the teams that has already shown interest in acquiring Jennings. According to a report from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the Lakers have been very active in trade talks this season. Jennings would make a lot of sense for them, as the point guard situation hasn’t been what they expected with the acquisition of Jeremy Lin not panning out so far.
So far this season in 35 games played with the Pistons, Jennings has averaged 14.8 points, 6.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. Over his last seven games, he has upped those numbers to 22.7 points, 7.4 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game.
Those numbers would be a very nice pickup for the Lakers, and they would be more than happy to put Jennings alongside of Kobe Bryant in the back-court. It would certainly be interesting to see how he reacted to playing alongside Bryant, and whether or not that forced him to change his game at all.
That being said, expect to hear the Lakers mentioned in quite a few rumors prior to the NBA’s trading deadline. Jennings appears to be a legitimate target for them, and if the Pistons choose to move him they are going to be one of the potential suitors.
