Kentucky Wildcats head basketball coach John Calipari took a shot at well-known college basketball announcer Dick Vitale during his halftime speech against the Missouri Tigers.
John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats have been one of the better teams in the country for quite some time now, and once again they are a powerhouse this season. They are 16-0 on the season, and their recruiting is just as strong now as it has ever been.

Heading into halftime against the Missouri Tigers, in what ended up being an 86-37 victory, Calipari took the time to respond to criticism from well-known and popular college basketball ESPN commentator, Dick Vitale.
Vitale had been throwing criticism at the way Calipari was coaching his team. The Wildcats have so much talent on their roster that Calipari has decided to sub in five players off of the bench for all five starters. That system isn’t one that Vitale is a fan of, and he doesn’t think it is going to work when Kentucky faces off against better opponents outside of the SEC.
Calipari took the time to respond to those feelings that Vitale has, and he took a fairly personal shot at Vitale as well.
Calipari does seem to have a point, as the subbing method hasn’t caused the Wildcats to skip a beat. They are still one of the most dominant teams in college basketball. Taking the coaching jab that Calipari did was a bit unprofessional, but it added the extra punch that he was looking for.
It is going to be interesting to see what happens with Kentucky as the season moves forward and they continue playing better quality opponents. Only time will tell who has the last laugh in this situation.
