The Lakers are still the most popular team in the country

Despite a miserable couple of seasons, people still love Jack Nicholson’s Los Angeles Lakers.
Maybe it’s just because of Jack Nicholson that people love the Los Angeles Lakers. Lets face it, the man is a living legend and continues to lead the charge for Laker-land, showing his face at the Staples Center despite how brutal this squad really is.

He’s played in movies that range from old-people romantic-comedies like As Good as it Gets, as well as starring as the frightening villain in The Shining. While he was admittedly scary as hell in the latter, it doesn’t match the freight that his Lakers are currently throwing out there on the floor.
Through all the garbage though, people across the country still swear by them.
In an NBA Fan Follower Map done by Twitter, the Lakers turned out to clearly be America’s NBA team by a wide margin.
Other facts about the results:
- In no surprise, the Toronto Raptors took charge of the North
- Alaska, yes Alaska, is divided between the Raptors, Heat and Lakers
- The Orlando Magic and Golden State Warriors get no love in their respective states
So to recap, regardless of what your record is this season, you’ll still fall behind in popularity. The Warriors have a league best 31-wins, yet lose out big-time to the Los Angeles.
Even in Pennsylvania, which is a hop, skip and a jump away from New York City, the Lakers do well in popularity.
Another interesting fact we learned is that NBA fans have the worst case of bandwagon jumping compared to any other major professional league.
