LSU head coach Les Miles more or less shot down the idea of the Tigers bringing in Braxton Miller

If there has been any aspect of the LSU Tigers that has been holding the team back as of late, it’s most certainly been the quarterback position. This has prompted folks to speculate as to whether or not Les Miles would toy with the idea of bringing in a graduate transfer.

Well, the head coach himself shot that down on Wednesday.

While discussing the hiring of assistant Ed Orgeron, Miles was asked about the possibility of bringing in a transfer quarterback to step in immediately and help complete the Tigers offense, the head man in Baton Rouge said that it’s “unlikely” they are to go that route.

Last season LSU utilized two signal callers under center in sophomore Anthony Jennings and freshman Brandon Harris, both of whom were ineffective for the most part. Jennings tossed for 1,611 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while Harris, the freshman, threw for 452 yards with six scores and two picks.

Most recently, Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller has been linked to potentially having some interest in joining the Tigers. He received his undergraduate degree in December in Columbus, meaning he would indeed be able to step in immediately and try to help LSU to the SEC title once again. Given the loaded QB situation at Ohio State at the moment, it’s likely that he does want to test his talents elsewhere for one more year.
