The shooter’s roll in basketball is one of those magical things many hear about and witness, but could never feel themselves (unless you shoot like Steph Curry).
The perfect amount of backspin and arc creates an element that helps any shot become friendlier around the rim. It becomes a matter of simple science involving a round ball and a round hoop.
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook has apparently mastered this shooter’s roll so well that it’s now freakishly carrying over into his dunks.
In a Western Conference showdown between the team who has a conference best 31 wins, the Golden State Warriors, and Westbrook’s Thunder, he was awarded two points on a dunk that featured the highest bounce off the rim you’ll ever see.
As spectacular as it was, it was only two of his 12 points so far. Westbrook has also chipped in with seven assists and eight-rebounds as he has a shot at a triple-double.
The score is currently 79-77 in favor of the Thunder, midway through the third-quarter in this very high scoring affair.
