Former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase will reportedly interview for the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ offensive coordinator position.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars

There are quite a few different intriguing coaching options on the open market right now in the NFL, and one of those intriguing options is former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase.

According to a report from Mike Silver of NFL.com, Gase will interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars for their offensive coordinator opening.

Denver finished this past season ranked fourth in the NFL through the air and 15th on the ground. The offense wasn’t necessarily all due to the play-calling that Gase made, due to the fact that Peyton Manning was the quarterback. Gase is still a very talented offensive coordinator, and the Jaguars would be getting a major upgrade if they end up hiring him.

It appeared that Gase would become the next head coach for the San Francisco 49ers after they parted ways with Jim Harbaugh, but that didn’t end up happening. Instead, the 49ers decided to go with Jim Tomsula to lead them forward.

Jacksonville has a lot of work to do on the offensive side of the football, but they have some very intriguing pieces for Gase to work with if he chooses to take the job.

Blake Bortles will be heading into his second year, and they still believe that he has the talent to be a legitimate franchise quarterback. Denard Robinson showed some potential as a starting running back as well, which would give Gase a good punch in the backfield. As for the wide receiver position, the Jaguars have Allen Hurns, Allen Robinson, and Marqise Lee.

Obviously taking the Jaguars’ job after coaching Manning this past year would be a major downgrade. The Jaguars do have some talent moving forward, but they are nowhere near the powerful offense that Denver had.

At 36 years of age, Gase is a very good option for the Jaguars to help them turn things around. He isn’t too far away from being a head coach, and the interest from the 49ers proved that. Jacksonville might not be able to keep him for too terribly long, but they certainly would be smart to sign him and keep him as long as they can.

Gase isn’t done receiving interest from teams either, and the Jaguars won’t be alone in their pursuit of the bright young offensive coordinator.
