Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said the team isn’t concerned about being tagged as the underdog against the Seattle Seahawks.
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers came away with a huge 26-21 victory over the Dallas Cowboys last week in the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs. This week, they are going into a game against the Seattle Seahawks where they are thought of as major underdogs.

Despite being labeled as underdogs heading into the game, Packers’ head coach Mike McCarthy made it clear that the team isn’t concerned about what others are saying.
They are a very different team than the one that was blown out by 20 points in Week 1 of the NFL season. It isn’t going to be an easy game obviously, but the Packers believe that they have gotten better and have different players on the field that will help them compete with the top-seeded team in the NFC.
McCarthy talked about the underdog role and what he thought of it heading into Sunday’s game.
“Well, we’re not allowed to participate in gambling,” McCarthy said. “There’s a big sign in the locker room. I’m sure you’ve all read. Trust me, I grew up in the bar business, I know how this stuff works. It’s no concern of ours.”
Green Bay’s defense has made noticeable improvements this year, and they are hoping that it will be enough to slow down Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch.
Either way, the Packers have made it this far and their future rests in large part on the calf of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. As long as he is on the field, the Packers have a chance to come away with a big road win. Seattle is one of the most difficult teams to play on the road in all of professional sports, but Green Bay has some experience playing against the fan base in the conditions that they will be facing.
Rodgers and the Packers may be viewed as underdogs, but they view themselves as equals. They have just as much talent on their roster as the Seahawks have on theirs, but they need to put everything together in order to play up to that full talent.
Expect to see the Packers come out strong and looking to prove a point. They don’t like feeling disrespected by the fans and media, and McCarthy is making it perfectly clear that the team doesn’t view themselves as underdogs with his quote.
