FanSided GIF found a hilarious vine of Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby Judo throws former teammate and Washington Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen to the ice during a game. It must be from the game on Dec. 27 when the Capitals beat the Penguins 3-0 at Console Energy Center.
It’s actually pretty good form by Crosby. He hooks the arm of Niskanen and then let’s the body weight of Niskanen do the work, flipping the Capitals defenseman over his back on slamming him down on to the ice.
What’s also impressive is that the whole time Crosby is showing off his martial arts, his eyes never leave the puck and where play is going. That’s tremendous focus by Sid. His sensei taught him well.
I mean, you can’t even call a penalty on this. There’s no penalty for Judo throwing your opponent. Sure, you could call it roughing I guess, but a roughing call is indicative of something sloppy, this is precision martial arts by Crosby. Something tells me they’re going to have to discuss this at the next CBA meetings and instill a Sidney Crosby Judo throwing rule.
Other teams better be careful when messing with Crosby, he’s obviously a finely-tuned fighting machine.
