So how long will the national anthem at Super Bowl 49 take from start to finish?

We don’t know who the participants will be in Super Bowl 49 yet, and we won’t know that answer for a little over 24 hours when the conference championship games are all finished up. However, that doesn’t mean that you can get out there and start placing your bets on stuff related to the game.

Throughout the course of the past few years, the length of the national anthem sung before the game has become quite the hot betting topic. Back in 2013 at Super Bowl 47, Alicia Keys sang the longest rendition of the anthem, which was recorded at two minutes and 35 seconds long. Keys’ performance could really mark the moment where people started to care about the length of the song at the game, because such a big deal was made of how long she went.

So, with that being said, what is the initial over/under for this year’s national anthem, which will be sung by Idina Menzel?

According to Darren Rovell, that prop bet has opened at 122.5 seconds, or roughly a little over two minutes.

Considering that most national anthems come in at under the two-minute mark, you would think that the safe bet would be to take the under. But again, they call it gambling for a reason, and Menzel can really open those pipes when she wants to.

How long do you think the anthem will go this year? Let us know in the comments below.
