‘Always Sunny’ insider: 8 quirks of Kaitlin Olson
By Ryan Lehrman
Fans of “Always Sunny” will appreciate these tidbits on actress Kaitlin Olson, AKA “Sweet Dee” Reynolds.
As the 10th season of “Always Sunny in Philadelphia” launched last week, the gang returned with high-flying shenanigans. Kaitlin Olson, who plays Dee Reynolds on the show, once again proved why she’s one of the funniest women on TV.
The 39-year-old actress, known for her ego-driven, blasphemous attitude that could send a moral compass on the fritz, is credited for helping pave the way for stronger female comedic roles (Bridesmaids).

In a recent Buzzfeed interview, Olson discussed some of her quirks that she shares with her character, as well as what lies ahead in her career.
Here are some things to know about the actress behind bison-handed, bird-like “Sweet Dee.”
1. Olson was raised on a farm in Oregon where she used to pick her own vegetables. A long way from Hollywood.
2. She has broken her back, heel and foot while filming “Always Sunny.” Once, she even fell through the floorboards and tore her calf open on a steel spike.
3. Kristen Wiig almost landed the role as Dee. Wiig and Olson were the final two actresses in audition.
4. In the season 4 episode “Who Pooped The Bed?” Olson refused to use a stunt double and rammed her own head into the parked car.
5. She loves “Game of Thrones” and the “Real Housewives.”
6. She’s married to Rob McElhenney, who plays Mac on the show. They started dating while filming season 2, but didn’t officially admit their couple status until the following season. When breaking the news to the rest of the cast, Olson reportedly burst into tears, declared her love for McElhenney and wished that everyone wouldn’t be mad. In response, the cast members erupted in laughter. So fitting.
7. Her physical comedy is key: “I’m very long,” she said in the interview. “I’m very unaware of how long my limbs are and I bash into things a lot, and Rob makes fun of me a lot.”
8. Olson almost didn’t take the role because the character was initially too much like bland voice of reason. Thank god things changed.
Keep an eye out for the actress on the silver screen — after “Always Sunny” wraps up, she wants to star in a movie.
