One of the key points in today’s game has been the big hits that Clay Matthews has been laying on Russell Wilson. In the third quarter of the game, Matthews had another big sack against the Seahawks’ quarterback.
Wilson would scramble on his feet, several yards backwards only to be pursued by a relentless Matthews the entire way. Matthews didn’t give up on the pursuit and would bring Wilson down for a huge loss.
The play would result in a huge net loss for Seattle and would drive them back even farther.
The Packers defense is playing the game of their lives on the road against Seattle and want to earn their way to Glendale, AZ to the Super Bowl. Against a dangerous runner like Wilson, Green Bay can’t afford to let him get free.
The Packers have been stopping Wilson all day from getting into space, something he is at his most dangerous at.
It takes plays like what Matthews is doing to come away with a victory in Seattle, and the Packers are making the plays defensively that they need to make.
