During the NFC Championship game, Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews Jr. nearly decapitated Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson following an interception.

NFL defenders salivate over any opportunity to lay a big hit on the quarterback. For Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews Jr., that opportunity presented itself on Sunday afternoon during the second quarter of the NFC Championship game.

After Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw his second interception of the game to Packers rookie defensive back Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix, Clay Matthews blew Wilson away with a huge shot to the head.

Matthews was flagged for a blindside block on the return.

When Wilson took a shot to the head, he did the chicken dance and collapsed to the turf.

Luckily for the Seahawks, Russell Wilson was able to get back to his feet and didn’t seem to be too shaken up. Just a few plays later, Seattle was able to get the ball back thanks to an interception of their own. Byron Maxwell had the pick — which was also Aaron Rodgers’ second of the game.

The first half of the NFC Championship has featured some uncharacteristic turnovers from each side. Between the two teams, there have been five first-half turnovers. The Packers currently lead the defending Super Bowl champions, 16-0.
