The Green Bay Packers appeared to have dodged a bullet on the injury side of things with Randall Cobb.
During Fox’s NFC Championship game pre-game production, Jay Glazer revealed that Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb was hospitalized on Saturday. Luckily for Packers fans, Aaron Rodgers will have another receiving threat to throw to against the Seattle Seahawks as Cobb will be in the Packers lineup.
The Packers are already worrying about a less mobile Rodgers and having to play on the road in the loudest NFL stadium. Losing Cobb for the NFC Championship Game would have been detrimental, since he has played his best NFL season this year and put up impressive numbers.
In the first 10 games of the regular season, he caught 54 receptions for 779 yards (14.4 yards per receptions), and had 10 touchdowns. He ended the regular season with 12 touchdowns. In the lone postseason game, Cobb was targeted 11 times.

He is clearly not Rodgers first passing option, but he is an option nonetheless. This is important as Rodgers’ calf injury could bother him more and he will be less mobile inside the pocket. Given this, Rodgers will have less time to get the ball off and will need every option as possible to advance the ball down the field.
Likewise, it’s another player that the Seattle defense will need to cover. The Packers are a versatile offense with playmakers at quarterback, running back and wide receiver.
The Green Bay Packers dodged more bad news with Cobb being able to feature in the lineup. They will need every offensive option available as they play in front of the loud 12th man. With a tough and all-around talented Seahawks offense, Rodgers will need to stay on the field as long as possible and score as many points as possible, so that the Packers defense can get a reasonable rest.
The NFC Championship game looks like it will end in a high-scoring affair. By having Cobb on the field, the Packers have another scoring passing threat that could spread the Seahawks thin. Likewise, it should allow Eddie Lacy and the Packers’ run game to be more successful on the ground.
