Seattle Seahawks All-Pro safety Earl Thomas has left the NFC Championship Game with a shoulder injury and is questionable to return.

UPDATE: Thomas is back on the field for the final 1:30 of the first half after Russell Wilson threw his third interception of the first half.

The Seattle Seahawks are off to a dismal start against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game and their chances of making it to a second straight Super Bowl took a hit with Earl Thomas injured.

Thomas headed to the locker room after the Packers kicked a field goal to take a 16-0 lead with 9:37 remaining in the second quarter to get examined and the Seahawks Twitter account revealed he is questionable to return.

Needless to say losing Thomas for the remainder of the game would be a devastating loss for the Seahawks against Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and the potent Packer passing attack.

His presence as the safety over the top loomed large in defending Cobb who has excelled out of the slot this season and help over the top in defending Nelson, one of the game’s best deep threats, presents a challenge for Seattle for however long Thomas is out.

You would have to imagine that Thomas would have to be seriously injured if he doesn’t gut it out for the rest of the game with a trip to the Super Bowl hanging in the balance and his team trailing early.

Seattle has already turned the ball over three times to put themselves in a hole early but the Packers have had to settle for three field goals when they could have delivered an early death blow to the defending champs with touchdowns instead of field goals.

But credit the Seahawks defense for holding them to three and for forcing two turnovers, including two interceptions of Rodgers who only had five interceptions all season.
