Jeremy Langford is a 5’11 206 pound RB from Michigan State, and he will be entering the draft this year. Langford was very productive during his college career, especially in his junior and senior seasons where he rushed for 1,422 yards 18 TDs for his junior season and 1,522 yards and 22 TDs for his senior season. Langford played 2nd fiddle to teammate and stud running back LeVeon Bell during his freshman and sophomore seasons, so he didn’t get any opportunities until he was a junior.
Langford is a great receiver, he catches the ball well, and he lines up as a wide receiver in some packages. Langford is a physical back who embraces contact and isn’t afraid to run people over. Langford does not display much burst when running through the holes, and he does not possess elite speed. He is highly likely to get caught from behind in the open field. Langford has a habit of stutter-stepping before making his decision on what rushing lane that he’s going to run through. Due to his physical nature while running the ball, Langford is very good along the goal line.
I don’t like Langford as a prospect due to his lack of explosiveness while running the ball. I feel that he’s going to have trouble cracking a starting lineup in the NFL because he lacks the speed and burst to get through the holes quickly enough. He is a good receiver and is very good at pass blocking, so he may be able to get on the field due to those traits. I look at him as an instant sell if he provides any kind of production because his athleticism isn’t strong enough to maintain any kind of value. The combine is going to be huge for Langford because he’s going to have to demonstrate that he can be explosive with successful vertical and 40-times.
I look for Langford to be drafted anywhere between rounds 3-6 in the NFL draft. Langford is going to go anywhere from the early 2nd round to the mid-3rd in rookie drafts. Unless Langford blows up the combine and gets drafted to a great situation, I highly doubt he makes it on to any of my dynasty teams. You should proceed with caution, and not overpay to get him.
