Eddie Lacy and the Green Bay Packers fell short in their Super Bowl bid when they lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game, but it wasn’t for lack of motivation from his mom who texted him words of inspiration.

Mom’s always seem to know what to say and when to say it.

Packers running back Eddie Lacy lent further proof to that notion after sharing a pregame conversation he had with his mom via text message before his team played the Seahawks with a berth to the Super Bowl hanging in the balance.

You can see a screenshot from the conversation Lacy shared to his Instagram account.

Pretty sweet moment between mother and son.

Lacy and the Packers fell one play short of their goal of making it to the Super Bowl when the Seahawks erased a 16-point deficit, the largest deficit overcome in a championship game to knock out the Packers.

However, if Lacy got the ball more in the fourth quarter the outcome could have been different and the Packers could have been celebrating a berth to the Super Bowl this morning.

Lacy finished with 21 carries and 73 yards, but didn’t get enough touches in the fourth quarter when Mike McCarthy should have been feeding his workhorse running back to bleed the clock and escape with a win.

The Seahawks pulled off an improbable comeback with 15 points in a 44-second span late in the fourth quarter, which included a recovered onside kick and an answered prayer that was a successful two-point conversion.

After forcing overtime with a Mason Crosby field goal the Packers lost the overtime coin toss and lost the game when Russell Wilson hit Jermaine Kearse for a 35-yard game-winning touchdown.

I wonder what Lacy’s mom had to tell her son after the heartbreaking loss, but I’m sure it was just what he needed to hear and the exact time he needed to hear it. That’s what mom’s do.
