Ohio State Buckeyes unveil national championship banner (Photo)
The Ohio State Buckeyes own the first College Football Playoff National Championship Game over Oregon earlier this month and now the championship banner is unveiled.
Urban Meyer led Ohio State to the national championship with Cardale Jones, Ezekiel Elliott and the Buckeyes dominating the Oregon Ducks and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota and now they have the banner to show off on campus.
One week after dismantling the heavily-favored Ducks in the title game the championship banner is hung on the wall at the Buckeyes’ indoor practice facility, above Leo Yasseno Field inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
Reserve quarterback Stephen Collier tweeted a picture of the banner Monday afternoon.
I’m sure that is a beautiful sight to see for Buckeye fans across the country who saw Ohio State go on a magical run that ended with their eighth national championship and their first since 2002 when Jim Tressel was head coach.
After losing two-time Big Ten MVP Braxton Miller to a season-ending shoulder injury prior to the start of the season the Buckeyes were discounted by many, but the play of quarterback J.T. Barrett who shattered program and Big Ten records led Ohio State to the Big Ten Championship Game.

Unfortunately for Barrett he broke his ankle late in the regular season finale against Michigan which opened the door for Cardale Jones to etch his name in program history. Jones went from third string to winning the Big Ten Championship Game, the Sugar Bowl against Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal and Oregon in the championship game.
He went 3-0 while defeating the three Heisman finalists in the process. Now Ohio State has an embarrassment of riches at the game’s most important position with Miller, Barrett and Jones all returning to Columbus for 2015.

Scarlet and Game
That is one reason why Ohio State is in a great position to repeat as national champions. Zero underclassmen left Ohio State early and this team is flush with talented underclassmen who are poised to elevate their game next season.
Joey Bosa may be the best player in college football next year, Elliott may be the Heisman favorite and Meyer has three quarterbacks he feels comfortable could lead his team to another title. That doesn’t even factor in rising stars like Eli Apple, Von Bell or Raekwon McMillan on defense.
Ohio State was the best team in college football in 2014 but they will be even better in 2015 which could result in another banner being hung this time next year.
