Seahawks safety Earl Thomas is expected to play in the Super Bowl despite hurting his shoulder.
No fear Seattle Seahawks fans, the “Legion of Boom” will be together as one for the Super Bowl.
When the NFC champions take on the AFC champions in the New England Patriots, safety Earl Thomas will be playing, despite a shoulder injury suffered against the Green Bay Packers, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Text on Seahawks S Earl Thomas, who has a dislocated shoulder: "Earl will play in the Super Bowl, don’t even waste any time on the story."

From the source himself, Earl made it pretty clear that a dislocated shoulder wouldn’t stop him from playing in the biggest game of the year.
“I know who I am, I’m a warrior, bro,” Thomas said via ESPN. “If I can play I don’t care if I can’t function really well. I know if I can help the team I’m going to be in there.”

Going up against one of the sharpest offenses in football, it’s imperative that Thomas is not only on the field, but healthy enough to compete, especially with tight end Rob Gronkowski likely to draw much attention from both Thomas and Kam Chancellor. If there are any issues with Thomas’ shoulder after last night’s thrilling game, the two weeks between now and the Super Bowl may clear that up.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Pete Carroll handles Gronkowski on offense, especially with two of the best safeties in the game at his disposal. As seen in the past, Gronk is a key cog in how the Patriots operate through the air and if either Thomas or Chancellor can contain him in 1-on-1 situations (health ail matter here as Gronkowski is an extremely physical receiver), the defense can focus on containing LeGarrette Blount who rank amuck against the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC championship (30 carries, 148 yards, 3 touchdowns) and receivers in Brandon LaFell, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola.
This past season, Thomas continued his annual excellence at the safety position. Helping anchor the league’s best defense (ranked 1st in yards allowed by almost 600 total yards), Thomas finished the 2014 season with 97 tackles (71 solo), 3 forced fumbles (1 recovery), 1 interception, and 6 passes deflected in 16 games played.
