New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork played the role of hero after Sunday’s AFC Championship Game after rescuing a woman trapped in her car near Gillette Stadium.

Vince Wilfork was driving home after the Patriots defeated the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship Game to advance to the Super Bowl which turned out to be the second most meaningful thing he accomplished that day.

Wilfork and his wife spotted an overturned 2015 Jeep Wrangler on the road near Gillette Stadium when he acted swiftly and heroically to pull the driver, 38-year-old Mary Ellen Brooks, of Hanson, Massachusetts who had been trapped inside her vehicle.

The Pro Bowl defensive tackle freed her with one arm and as soon as the police had everything in order left the scene without much fanfare.

How many other people would have stopped and helped out a fellow human in need of assistance like Wilford did around 1 am?

I like to think everyone presented with an encounter like this would spring to action like the 325-pound Wilfork did hourse after playing in the AFC Championship Game, but I’m not naive to think many wouldn’t be as helpful as the Patriots defensive lineman.

When asked about the incident on Monday at the Patriots practice facility, Wilfork simply said he just wanted to get the woman to safety, which he did.

As for the driver, well she was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Wilfork is a five-time Pro Bowler and has played his entire career with the Patriots, making 148 starts as the anchor of the Pats defensive line.

You can watch Wilfork and the Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks in two weeks from Glendale, AZ in the Super Bowl where he will undoubtedly be faced with questions at media day about his recent brush with moonlighting with saving women from rolled over Jeeps.
