Bobby Bowden wants the same treatment from the NCAA that his buddy Joe Paterno received last week.

Last week the NCAA made the monumental decision to award late Penn State heAd coach Joe Paterno his vacated wins back, wins that were taken away as part of the fallout from the Jerry Sandusky scandal. With the 111 wins being awarded back, that means that former Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden is no longer the winningest coach at the FBS level.

Now while it’s not as many as Paterno, Bowden actually had some wins vacated from his record as well. The NCAA took 12 wins off of the former Seminoles head man as part of the fallout from the academic scandal at Florida State in 2006-07.

Bowden, now, wants to know if he can get his W’s back as well, like what happened to his old buddy Paterno.

“I’m all for Joe getting his hundred wins back and me getting my 12 back,” Bowden told Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel.

Bowden might indeed have a gripe. When his administration learned of the academic transgressions, the violations were self-reported to the NCAA. Usually when this occurs, the NCAA takes it a bit easier on the school if they’re taking care of the issue themselves. However, they went ahead and took the wins off of Bowden anyway.

The legendary coach was at the helm of the Seminoles during the span of four decades, winning a multitude of ACC championships, as well as two national titles in 1993 and 1999.
