That immediately has some wrestling fans thinking about legends with Texas ties, like Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Do the two of them appear at WrestleMania in their home state?
Stone Cold Steve Austin has been out of competitive wrestling for a while, though he did make a brief appearance at WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans in the opening segment alongside Hulk Hogan and The Rock.
The Undertaker competed at that same WrestleMania, and it is where his legendary unbeaten streak at the event ended at the hands of Brock Lesnar. It is still up in the air if the Undertaker participates this year.
Legendary WWE announcer Jim Ross chimed in on his blog about his thoughts involving the pair showing up at the Texas WrestleMania.
“Enjoyed spending some quality time this past weekend with Steve Austin in Los Angeles. He is looking great and would be a perfect fit, in my opinion, to return to the ring in Dallas next year for WM32,” Ross wrote. “Perhaps I should say in Arlington, Texas as the Dallas Cowboys actually play their games in Arlington. I could see WWE adding a major Undertaker match to this potential record breaker of an event that is if Taker would be physicality good to go in 2016. As I outlined on one of my Ross Reports several months ago this booking is huge for WWE and AT&T Stadium could easily fit 100,000+ for WM32 if the card is what the fans want to see which is always any promoter’s goal. ”
He does have a point. If the WWE wants to set an attendance record, and Jerry Jones always wants to set attendance records and make a splash when hosting events, having Stone Cold Steve Austin on the bill would be a huge draw.
If I didn’t already attend WrestleMania every year it would be enough to get me to go.
