Reasons to doubt every NBA championship contender
Washington Wizards
Reason: Are the Wizards mature enough?
The best point guard in the league plays basketball for the Washington Wizards, and his name is John Wall.
On paper the Washington Wizards should win the Eastern Conference in a landslide and it shouldn’t be a competition. Yes, that includes defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls at full strength. The Wizards have already defeated the Cavaliers, and they’ve defeated the Bulls twice.
The reason why they were able to defeat some of the Eastern Conference power houses is because their team has all of the traits of a good championship roster.
In addition to Wall the Wizards also have one of the best shooting guards in the league in Bradley Beal.
Between Beal and Wall, they should be killing their opponents and averaging a combined 40 points and 17 assists between the two, but unfortunately they aren’t their yet.
However, the Wizards are slowing creeping up to the top of the Eastern Conference and could and most likely will challenge the Atlanta Hawks for the as the best team in the Eastern Conference.
The Wizards though need to ask the question are they mature enough to win?
The fact that the Wizards brought in a future hall of fame shooting guard, Paul Pierce, helps them tremendously. But Pierce can only give so much wisdom, at some point this team is going to have to learn while playing in the fire. Hopefully they won’t get burned because if they leave unscathed the Wizards could make it to the NBA Finals.
