QB Russell Wilson, Seattle

Wilson was going through the most nightmarish game of his career in the NFC Championship game.

He had thrown four interceptions, was missing open receivers and had demonstrated none of the clutch play that has defined his first three years in the NFL.

However, when all appeared lost and the Seahawks appeared destined to watch the Green Bay Packers celebrate on their homefield, Wilson came through. Suddenly he found the running lanes, and his ability to hit his receivers in stride came back.

He rallied the Seahawks to two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter and another at the start of overtime, and he is now playing for his second consecutive Super Bowl title.

Wilson’s resourcefulness will be put to the test by the Patriots’ pass defense. Defensive ends Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich have to find a way to contain Wilson and not let him roll out and throw on the move.

The strategy is fairly basic, but it is difficult to execute because Wilson is so athletic, talented and determined. Despite his showing through the first 57 minutes against Green Bay, Wilson threw just seven interceptions this season.

His best characteristic is his resourcefulness, and it is likely to be on display against New England.
