Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane scores 200th career goal against Arizona

The Chicago Blackhawks defeated a fellow Western Conference opponent January 20th in a  6-1 victory over the Arizona Coyotes.

Patrick Kane, an elite RW for the ‘Hawks, scored his 200th career goal off a pass from Brad Richards, putting it past Arizona’s goaltender Mike Smith.

The two-on-two play set the stage for Kane to take the shot, putting the Blackhawks up 3-0 against the Coyotes in the 2nd period. Not only was this his 200th NHL career goal, but it was also his 22nd goal this season.

These milestones for Patrick Kane hold somewhat of a tradition between him and Brad Richards, who assisted in Kane’s very first NHL goal, as well as his 100th, and now his 200th. Kane was interviewed following the game and was quoted saying, “[he and Richards] laughed about it the shift before…” The two offensive players have been have been playing on the same line recently, and have proven to be extremely successful.

Looking at the upcoming opponents the Blackhawks will be facing within the next two weeks, breaking their two game losing streak was an essential factor for increasing team morale. The ‘Hawks are currently ranked fourth in the Western Conference and looking prepared to take on Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins January 21st.
