Shawn Marion will be calling it a career at the end of the 2014-2015 season
Shawn Marion, who plays as a small forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers, has announced that he will be ending his 17 year career when this season comes to a close. After being picked by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 1999 draft, Marion went on to have a glittering career with 5 clubs. The high point of his career is most definitely the ring he picked up during his 5 years with the Dallas Mavericks.

Marion is sighting family obligation as his reason to call it a day, as he wants to spend more time with his son.
"“The biggest thing is having a son. I got attached to him. Seeing him periodically is hard. Watching him grow up on pictures and videos is hard.” – Shawn Marion via Paul Coro of AZcentral.com"
Praise and adulation has flooded over social media after the announcement was made.

After making the announcement Marion was quick to remember the good times he had at Phoenix, a place where he spent more time than any other during his career.
"“It was a special time. Those were special fans in Phoenix. It’ll always have a part of me. I’m always going to keep a place there.” – Shawn Marion on the news."
He may feel like Phoenix was his NBA home, but lets not forget the good times he had at Dallas. Not only did he win the championship, he called LeBron a bitch after scoring against the Heat in 2011. I wonder how that went down when the two players became team mates this summer.
Some people say that it’s about time Marion retired considering he is 36, but no one can doubt that he has had a great career and will always be fondly remembered by his five teams, especially the Suns and the Mavericks.
The small forward said it best himself, and you can’t argue with that.
"“I wanted to go out on my terms”."
